Tangier has almost 1.5 million people and has been a crossroads of culture for millennia. It is now a polyglot mix. The people speak many languages; almost all speak Darija (the local dialect), standard Arabic, and French. Many also are native speakers of Spanish. The infrastructure is very modern, the people are warm and friendly (and love Americans!), and crime is low.
Although the latitude is about the same as Oklahoma City, the weather is mild; it is rarely over 85°F or under 50°F. The city is very walkable, and opportunities for hiking, relaxing at the beach, and meeting up with friends at coffee shops and restaurants abound.
It’s an easy place to live with a sizable expat community and is an environment where it’s easy to make friends and feel at home quickly.
